Oral mucoceles are common minor salivary gland lesions usually treated with excision, but associated with bleeding, suturing, postoperative discomfort, and delayed healing. Mucocele deroofing and dye-assisted laser ablation (Mu-DADyLA) is a hybrid technique designed to combine tissue preservation for pathologic diagnosis with the hemostatic and biologic advantages of diode laser surgery. After laser excision of the cyst dome, the lesion base is stained with toluidine blue and selectively vaporized, allowing targeted ablation of residual glandular tissue without sutures. In a pilot case-control experience including 50 patients, Mu-DADyLA was associated with shorter operative time, lower postoperative pain, faster healing, and fewer complications than conventional excision, with similar short-term recurrence. Mu-DADyLA may represent a practical and patient-centered surgical alternative for oral mucocele management, particularly when diagnostic reliability, procedural efficiency, and postoperative comfort are priorities.
