Gangliosides and Autoimmune Neuropathies.

Antibodies against gangliosides are frequently detected in autoimmune polyneuropathies such as Guillain-Barré syndrome, Miller Fisher syndrome, multifocal motor neuropathy, and IgM paraproteinemic polyneuropathy. These antibodies, which can be examined by thin-layer chromatography immunostaining, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and glycoarray, are useful diagnostic markers and possible disease pathogenetic factors. Here, we describe the methods for antibody detection in detail.
