Impact of information consumption pilot policies on export resilience

Information consumption has broken through the traditional consumption model, promoted online and offline consumption interaction, and expanded residents' consumption potential. The pilot policies aimed at promoting information consumption play a key role in promoting the integration of traditional industries and information technology. It is not only conducive to accelerating the formation of a new development pattern dominated by domestic economic cycles and supplemented by foreign economic cycles, but also helps to enhance the competitive advantage of foreign trade, promote the resilience of export trade, and drive China's high-quality exports. This study uses data from Chinese cities from 2008 to 2021 and applies the difference in differences method to assess the influence of information consumption pilot policies on the resilience of exports. Firstly, the policy of pilot cities for information consumption has a significant promoting effect on the resilience of China's export trade. After conducting heterogeneity analysis, we found that there are significant differences in the impact of this policy under different indicators. Secondly, the policies of pilot cities for information consumption will indirectly affect China's export resilience through productivity effects, foreign direct investment effects, and environmental regulation effects. Finally, based on these findings, we propose suggestions such as strengthening information infrastructure construction and increasing technological research and development to enhance China's export resilience.
