Achieving age-friendly cancer care through the NICHE practice model.

More than 50% of cancers occur in adults aged 70 years and older, and this population accounts for 60% of all cancer deaths. Cancer care for older adults is complex and influenced by comorbidities, age-related physiologic changes, social needs, and cognitive or functional limitations. This NICHE column addresses the alignment of the NICHE practice model and resources to advance evidence-based care of older adults with cancer in conjunction with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's Age-Friendly 4Ms framework and international professional oncology nursing practice standards.
