Sudden cardiac arrest in a young healthy man following kratom tea consumption: a case report and brief literature review.

We report the first case in Austria of cardiac arrest associated with isolated kratom intoxication in a young man, supported by toxicological blood analysis revealing markedly elevated mitragynine concentrations. Despite its perception as a low-risk substance, kratom can cause severe and potentially fatal adverse effects. This case highlights the need for increased clinical awareness, public education and further investigation of the cardiovascular safety of mitragynine.
