Self-reported frailty: good enough for perioperative practice?

Patient frailty is known to correlate with poor outcomes after surgery, however, routinely measuring frailty has proved an ongoing hurdle in perioperative practice. Self-reported patient frailty could represent a novel approach to the issue. Alkadari and colleagues report a largely successful experience with self-reported frailty in 531 older adults undergoing noncardiac surgery, although some challenges remain.
