Case report of the gill slit procedure relieving hypotension due to severe subcutaneous emphysema in a post-cardiac arrest patient.

This is a case of a 57-year-old male who presented to the emergency department after cardiac arrest. He was found to have massive subcutaneous emphysema and worsening hypotension despite high dose infusions of several vasopressors. Emergency department staff performed the "Gill Slit Procedure," with near immediate improvement in vasopressor requirements. The patient survived transport to the intensive care unit (ICU) but ultimately died later in the ICU.
