Assimilation of the Belom Bahadat culture and Islam in Palangka Raya City from the perspective of technology based rational action

Abstract Belom Bahadat is a philosophy that governs the behavior of the Dayak Ngaju community in Palangka Raya as a guideline for ethics, order, honesty, social solidarity, and wisdom. This research uses a qualitative approach with a single case study through interviews, observations of technology use, and literature review. The research questions highlight how the assimilation of Belom Bahadat with Islam occurs through the rational actions of actors, as well as the influence of technology on cultural decisions and practices. The aim is to analyze the relationship between rational actions, cultural assimilation, and the role of technology. The results show a dynamic assimilation process in accordance with the principles of al-‘ādatu muhakkamah . Findings include the use of prayer alarms, digital Qurans, and digital waqf, as well as negotiations between Islam, Dayak culture, and the Palangka Raya government. The implications of forming rational and religious actors without eliminating the values of Belom Bahadat , enriching the study of the sociology of religion based on local wisdom.
