Patient-Reported Outcomes with Long-Acting Cabotegravir and Rilpivirine in People Living with HIV.

INTRODUCTION: Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and treatment satisfaction are critical endpoints in people living with HIV (PLWH) receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART). We aimed to analyze the HRQoL of PLWH receiving CAB+RPV LA and their experience with the healthcare they received. METHODS: We conducted a prospective observational cohort study. We reviewed PLWH who initiated CAB+RPV LA and were followed for at least 15 months. Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROs) instruments were employed to measure health status (MOS-HIV: Physical Health Summary (PHS) and Mental Health Summary (MHS) scores) and ad hoc satisfaction questionnaire developed by the authors. Furthermore, patient experience with healthcare professionals (IEXPAC) was also evaluated. A subanalysis was conducted in an independent cohort of PLWH receiving oral ART. RESULTS: In pooled analysis (n=104), patients reported high satisfaction after 15 months of LA therapy and maintained a good HRQoL; however, no statistically significant changes were detected following the switch from oral ART to CAB+RPV LA (PHS: 54±9 at baseline vs 53±10 at month 13; MHS: 52±10 vs 50±12; IEXPAC: 8.0±1.2 vs 7.5±1.5, respectively). The subanalysis of the oral ART group revealed no significant differences in MOS-HIV and IEXPAC questionnaires, compared to LA therapy. CONCLUSION: PLWH receiving CAB+RPV LA as an alternative to daily oral ART, demonstrate high satisfaction, maintained quality of life and positive relationships with healthcare professionals.
