Millions of Americans continue to struggle with mental health conditions despite years of increased public attention and federal investment, according to newly released data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Its 2025 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) found that 54.6 million adults experienced a mental illness in the past year, and anxiety and depression remained widespread among adolescents.
