ABSTRACT Laser‐driven projection displays promise a large screen size, high brightness, and speckle‐free, but are greatly limited by the “green gap” and low color gamut. To address these issues, much narrower‐band and high‐efficiency green converters are required. In this work, we synthesized green‐emitting β‐Si 5.97 Al 0.03 O 0.03 N 7.97 :Eu 2+ with an emission maximum of 527 nm, full width at half maximum of 42.95 nm, and external quantum efficiency of 41.4%, by using NaF additives to eliminate the lattice oxygen. By co‐sintering it with glass frits on an aluminum substrate to fabricate phosphor‐in‐glass films at 430°C for 20 min, which inherit the excellent luminescence and stability of phosphor without detectable interfacial reactions. The optimized PiG film‐coated phosphor wheel was prepared to eliminate thermal effects, and showed outstanding laser irradiation resistance, reaching a luminous flux of 3849.43 lm @32.53 W mm −2 and a luminous efficacy of 101.46 lm W −1 . The advanced laser phosphor display prototype achieves a color gamut as high as 90.92% Rec.2020. These results demonstrate the strong potential of the β‐Si 5.97 Al 0.03 O 0.03 N 7.97 :Eu 2+ phosphor for accelerating the advancement of laser‐driven projection displays technology.
