Hexafluoroisopropyl (HFiPr) groups play a critical role in new drug development and the advancement of crop protection sciences. However, compared to other more well‐known fluoroalkyl groups, HFiPr groups are severely under‐represented in the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries. We attribute this dearth in utilization of HFiPr compounds to a prior lack of commercially viable synthetic methods to access these highly interesting groups. The last decade, however, has witnessed a dramatic growth in creative approaches to HFiPr functionalization. In this review, we examine these methods and provide an outlook for future developments in this area.
