Chromeno[4,3‐ b ]pyrrolidine derivatives are a class of compounds featuring a unique tricyclic fused scaffold and exhibiting significant biological activities. In recent years, remarkable progress has been made in developing efficient synthetic strategies for these complex structures. This review aims to systematically summarize various methods for synthesizing chromeno[4,3‐ b ]pyrrolidine derivatives. Based on the type of catalyst employed, we have summarized and categorized four main catalytic strategies: Brønsted base catalysis, N ‐heterocyclic carbene catalysis, phosphine catalysis, and metal catalysis. The cyclization strategies and their proposed reaction mechanisms are discussed in detail, and we believe this review will provide valuable inspiration for future innovative research in this field.
