Concomitant Lemierre's Syndrome and Base-of-Skull Osteomyelitis Caused by Arcanobacterium haemolyticum, Complicated by Ceftriaxone-Associated Cholecystitis: A Case Report.

Lemierre's syndrome and base-of-skull osteomyelitis can occur together in immunocompetent adolescents with Arcanobacterium haemolyticum bacteraemia. Prolonged high-dose ceftriaxone may precipitate symptomatic cholecystitis. Clinicians should consider A. haemolyticum as a causative pathogen in invasive head and neck infection, including Lemierre's syndrome and osteomyelitis, even in immunocompetent hosts.
