Moth-Eaten Osteolysis of Multiple Foot Bones After a Conservatively Treated "Stable" Ankle Fracture: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Progressive multifocal "moth-eaten" osteolysis involving foot and ankle bones after nonoperative treatment of a stable ankle fracture is rare and warrants evaluation for infectious, neoplastic, inflammatory, vascular, and mechanical causes. Vigilant follow-up, serial imaging, laboratory testing, vascular assessment, and multidisciplinary review can enable early diagnosis and timely, individualized management.
