Mechanical Thrombectomy With Cerebral Protection Device for Persistent Left Atrial Appendage Thrombus: A Case Report With Literature Review.

Left atrial appendage (LAA) thrombi may not resolve following anticoagulant therapy. Persistent LAA thrombi despite being on therapeutic anticoagulation is not uncommon, and management of such thrombus is challenging. A novel strategy for such patients is mechanical thrombectomy and LAA occlusion device placement along with cerebral protection device deployment. Nevertheless, further investigation is needed to validate this emerging strategy.
