Abstract Miniaturization of spectrometers is urgently needed for usage in portable devices, and a single‐detector computing micro‐spectrometer with micrometer‐scale and minimum usage of electrodes is a practicable solution. In this study, the influence of key parameters on the spectral reconstruction process to the resolution and accuracy of single‐detector computing micro‐spectrometers, including the number of sampling points, photoresponsivity matrix, photocurrent/responsivity noise, incident spectral range, and spectral reconstruction algorithm are investigated through numerical simulations. The important role of the responsivity matrix rank is revealed with observation of knee points, suggesting the effective range of parameter selection. This research provides useful information for the design and evaluation of single‐detector computing micro‐spectrometers.
