GAO report faults gaps in oversight of Drug‐Free Communities program

The federal program supporting the formation and prevention activity of community anti‐drug coalitions has strong backing in Washington but continues to show flaws in data collection and oversight that compromise its claims of community impact, a new report from Congress's Government Accountability Office (GAO) states. Some of the report's conclusions resemble findings from past years' analyses of the Drug‐Free Communities (DFC) Support Program.
