The rise of dark intelligence – a new class of autonomous adversarial AI – has essentially changed the game for the exploitation of digital identity. This chapter examines how a dark intelligence network uses the adversarial exploitation lifecycle (AEL) – a detailed model of stages including reconnaissance, identity fabrication, exploitation, obfuscation, escalation and persistence – to perform synthetic identity attacks step by step. It thoroughly explores the exploitation of AEL-based synthetic identities in digital finance, healthcare, e-governance and smart infrastructure, demonstrating how AI-driven social engineering, auto-identity cloning and deepfake validation can fool contemporary KYC, MFA and zero-trust authentication systems. Besides that, it emphasizes the digital twin system vulnerabilities where twin-cloning, sensor spoofing and identity desynchronization facilitate the rapid spread of the attack. The chapter presents a multi-layer defense strategy that combines cognitive trust models, identity graph analytics, zero-knowledge authentication and adversarial threat containment systems to counteract the AEL-driven exploitation.
