To lower the worldwide cancer burden, early risk assessment and focused preventive measures are essential. An integrated overview of modern cancer prevention techniques, such as genetic screening, preventative interventions, lifestyle changes, chemoprevention, and vaccine-based tactics, is provided in this book chapter. This book chapter highlights the usefulness of genetic screening in determining hereditary vulnerability and directing risk-adapted surveillance, emphasizing its importance in cancer risk assessment and prevention. Prenatal screening, newborn screening, adult disease risk screening, and cancer-specific genetic screening are all covered, along with the classification and guiding principles of genetic screening. The importance of key genetic screening technologies, including polymerase chain reaction, DNA sequencing techniques, such as Sanger as well as next-generation sequencing, microarray-based platforms, including epigenetic analysis techniques, to precision prevention is examined. The chapter emphasizes the significance of modification of lifestyle in cancer prevention in addition to genetic therapies. With a focus on evidence-based risk-reduction strategies, the effects of diet, behavioural factors, and environmental exposures-such as alcohol and tobacco use, physical inactivity, sleep as well as circadian disruption, exposure to UV and radiation, and environmental pollutants-are examined. Along with integrative techniques that integrate pharmaceutical, lifestyle, and genetic interventions, chemoprevention employing synthetic and natural agents is also discussed. The chapter concludes by highlighting the function of vaccinations in preventing cancer, differentiating between therapeutic and preventative cancer vaccines, and stressing the need of vaccination against oncogenic viruses including the hepatitis B virus and human papillomavirus. In order to promote successful cancer prevention, the chapter ends with a call for interdisciplinary, individualized approaches.
